She was in fact a kitchen maid at Craig-y-Nos who married Patti's chef Adamo Adami and then together ran the Neuadd Arms Hotel in Llanwrtyd from 1904 to 1910. Adamo died in 1910 and Caroline gave up the hotel and ran the local fish shop in Llanwrtyd. Later in life she lived with her son at Brecon until her death in 1954. If you are curious I actually wrote a biog of the mysterious pianist which has appeared in the latest edition of magazine For the Record for Spring 2021 https://www.clpgs.org.uk/our-magazine.htmlJolyon50https://www.blogger.com/profile/01331882838796428888noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6765243585194738114.post-49453204631785009042020-04-22T01:55:37.688+01:002020-04-22T01:55:37.688+01:00in case anyone seeing these - some info here:

Her husband was the right-hand man of Adelina Patti the great opera singer who lived in Craig-y-Nos, the castle outside Brecon where she built a theatre (still there). I wonder why she uses such telegraphic speech ('raise leg' etc.)? Where did you get the fab pictures - did they come with the disc? It's not her, is it? Are both post cards? As for the sedentary habits of us gramophiles, I think I'm unfairly lucky - despite being averse to all exercise except walking, and being fond of a drop, I suspect my quasi-permanent grumpiness expends so much nervous energy that I seem not to pile on the pounds, to the annoyance of my dear sister! What I certainly do need is exercises for the brain - my memory for melody is going, along with everything else... I've managed to identify the 15th of Brahms's 16 Waltzes Op.39 on the first side, but the Tchaikovsky waltz on the second is eluding me - is it from Swan Lake? Oh yes, and I second your appeal for information on Mme Adami - she's been driving me potty. Not a pseudonym, is it? Does anyone know? I have a note of my pianist using just 'T.
